Gatley is a suburban area in the borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It is located approximately 8 miles south of Manchester city centre and is bordered by Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Heald Green, and Northenden. Gatley has a population of around 11,000 people. Gatley has a rich history, dating back to the Domesday Book, which listed the village as "Gateclyve". During the Industrial Revolution, the area became known for its textile mills, although these have since closed down. Today, Gatley is a popular residential area with a mix of housing, including Victorian terraces, semi-detached houses, and newer developments. There are also several parks and green spaces, including Gatley Hill and Scholes Fields, as well as a range of shops, pubs, and restaurants. The area has good transport links, with its own railway station on the Manchester to Crewe line, as well as several bus routes.
